Brokaw and Russert were just talking. Russert was doing his E-A-S skit and after going through his scenarios, they both agreed the key for Kerry was Ohio. Then Brokaw says, " And there is nothing we can do to move the ball forward. The people have ... " and I forget the rest but it was that all they could do is wait for the count.

I read that as a disappointment. A disappointment at Kerry's loss and that they cannot do anything more to help.
