Of course they could in an alternate universe, but we live here in the real world and the Democrats are going to brand themselves come Feb 12. The way things are shaping up right now, it's my very early opinion that there is no chance in hell the Democrats could win in 2008 so they ought to be looking for a sacrifical lamb. (That opinion may change, but not in a Democrat, 'things are looking up' direction.)
