Is the King getting desperate?

Events do not seem to be going right for His Majesty, King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev and His Royal Government. According to Radio Free Nepal, protests are continuing, the clamp down on the press is not working so well, and India and the US are in total agreement on the restoration of democratic government and are working on an approach for it to happen very soon.

So, as a result of his dumping the government and calling state of emergency because of the ineffective battle against the Maoist guerillas, there's lots of pressure on the King, himself, instead of where he wanted it -- on the Maoist guerrilas. Running low on support, who does the King turn to? China. D'oh! And what a butter job he's doing to get their support.

RFN has a round up of news reports from around the world for the 22nd of March, including one noting that a new arms pact with China is in the works. I wonder if the arms pact discussions center on whether the guerillas will be the delivery boys.
