The Salvation Navy

Confederate Yankee posts on a fantastic idea that might be sunk without Congressional approval to give scrapyard bound ships to The Salvation Army for refitting as disaster response vessels which can then be operated by the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Now that's an earmark I'll support.
